Social care center in Riga is home for babies – orphans (and mostly they do have parents – drug addicts or alcoholics that have dumped them) and children till 4 years of age with serious disabilities. State provides them with the most necessary things, however, they need lots and lots of diapers daily (especially size 5 and 6 for children with disabilities, who spend most of their time in bed) and some other practical things.
After the initial tweet by Zane looking for used CD players to be donated to the center, people showed such interest that with help of Edgars this website was created. Now we could call it a positive wave – people are donating money (status is daily updated at section Ziedotaji on this website), bringing diapers to the center themselves and we have managed to find CD players so that children are able to listen to Christmas songs.
We will be collecting donations till 1st January and then will purchase diapers and bring them to the center.
